Here is a round up of UK based reviews, all sounding pretty good and promising.

Auto Car:
After four concept cars over the past two decades, the moment has finally arrived: the Volkswagen Microbus is back. Bulli, Camper, Microbus, Van: whatever you want to call it, it now exists once more, this time as the Volkswagen ID Buzz.

Driving Electric:
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz has been five years in the making, and it’s worth the wait. It’s not quite as practical as some of its van-based competition, but none of the electric SUVs out there can match the space or family-friendly features of this funky-looking minibus. Its styling might be what draws customers in, but beneath the Microbus-inspired looks, this is a very capable, if slightly pricey, EV.

Auto Express:
It’s frankly hard to see how any vehicle could live up to this much hype, but we’re pleased to report that the Volkswagen ID. Buzz has indeed been worth the wait. It’s not quite as practical as its van-based rivals, admittedly, but it trumps the myriad SUVs it competes with when it comes to space and family-friendly features. It’ll sell on image alone, but beneath the retro styling and functional cabin, there’s a really capable, compelling EV. Only the high price counts against it.

Top Gear:
A convincing vision of a family car done better. We love it because it’s different, because it’s a new anti-SUV template, because it’s fun to be in and around. But equally we’re not blind to its drawbacks. The battery and range are on the small side, and it’s a two-tier cabin. For those up front this is unique and special, while those behind, apart from sliding doors and intensely generous headroom, have less to lift their spirits.

But right now, if you’re looking at any other premium crossover or SUV – be it electric or internal combustion – doesn’t this look like a brighter, more engaging and interesting alternative? It’s beguilingly simple and yet entirely uplifting.

Car:
Its infotainment remains frustrating – a niggle that won’t be fixed for likely a few years yet – and it’s not exactly fast, but there’s no doubt about it: the ID. Buzz is a unique offering which fuses clever packaging, spot-on looks, up-to-date electric propulsion and a truckload of emotional brownie points at a relatively affordable tariff.

And it’s one hell of a crowd-pleaser wherever you go. If this unbridled spontaneous enthusiasm of passers-by is anything to go by, the 130,000 units VW intends to build annually from next year onward is no more than a drop in the bucket named desire.

Electrifying:
Has the wait been worth it? It would appear so. The ID. Buzz looks fantastic and is certain to convert a new demographic of driver to electric. Volkswagen has clearly done a decent job with the driving dynamics and while the range and efficiency is a little disappointing, the ID. Buzz feels more than the sum of its parts. I can’t wait to try one on UK roads.
