I placed the £2k pre order deposit,
not sure if it will make much difference now as they delayed our pre booking slot

Thanks for that. I haven’t been invited to spec mine yet but don’t suppose they will come through this year as suggested earlier.

I paid the £2k also. Agree that it didn't seem to make a massive difference in the end. Definitely not to be delivered until 2023 Q1 or Q2.
Tesla Model S (current car) has been brilliant at maintaining the battery so degradation has been minimal, but my friend's Leaf is shocking. That's why i was asking about the battery management system.

Hope you get to spec yours soon Steve. I spent hours/days debating all the options with my wife.

Thanks Dazo, I’ve never owned a Tesla and I do believe that their battery management is the best but having owned two id4 I can say with hand on heart that VWs is improving. My current id4 is running the 3.0 software, where the previous car had the 2.3 and I can say that whatever they are doing has certainly improved range. My previous car would typically be about one mile per KWh worse than my wifes id3 but this later model is much nearer to it, even though this car is a fair bit heavier than her 58KWh model.

I’m actually collecting an id5 next month, which should have 3.1 on so it’ll be interesting to see how that performs. That said I can believe it’s going to be a while before we all see a buzz. Thanks for the reply Steve

Steve,

I would call your dealer up and book yourself in,
tbh I did mine over email to my dealer as they have the prebooking code,
I got the spec code off the website and sent them that

Yes the lack of information is interesting. I asked VW UK about the two-way charging (V2H or V2G). This has always been a feature of the specification and I believe was made to work in software version 3.0 or 3.1. I asked what VW was recommending I should have installed at home to make this work. Well you have to laugh 🤣 Firstly they told me I just needed a wall charger (which I already have). I explained that a standard wall charger would not work. It was obvious that even VW UK did not know what I was talking about. A few days later, after speaking to someone in Germany, they came back and said there was nothing available in the UK and no plans to test anything in the near future. Maybe by the time I take delivery they will have a better idea on how the feature is going to work.

Thanks Adam. Yes Wallbox have one on trial in the U.K. it only supports CHAdeMO at the moment. Can’t seem to get an answer from them about CCS. Have asked VW U.K. again about V2H but they are also not replying 😤 A company called Indra in the U.K. are working on a CCS “box” which is currently in trial. I plan to keep following V2H development and will post any updates on this forum.

Update. Wallbox have now got back to me. Apparently they sell a CCS V2H box in the USA but not in the U.K. as yet. Maybe you are right and can buy one in Europe. Still no idea of price.
